Toddler Play Group

Thursdays at 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. 

Enjoy play time with special toys and interaction with other toddlers and their caregivers.  Meets in the story room before story time.

December 2, 9, 16

For toddler activities in October and November, see "Baby and Me Story Time" below.

No registration needed.  Come when you can!

Preschool Story Time

Thursdays at 11:00-11:30 a.m.

 

Stories, rhymes, crafts for children ages 3-5 years.

Program Dates: 

September 9, 16, 23

October 7, 14, 21

November 4, 11, 18

(No December story time)

Please register in the library before you attend the first time, then come back as often as you like!

 

 

 

Morning Coffee Break

Fridays at 10:30-11:00 a.m. 

Stories and activities for ages 3 - 5 years.  Siblings welcome.  Refreshments for children and adults.

October 8, 15, 22

November 5, 12, 19

(No December story time)

Please register in the library before you attend the first time, then come back as often as you like.

 

Baby and Me Story Time with

Cheri Riehle

Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00a.m.

This program is designed for children ages birth to three years with a caregiver, to enjoy stories and play time. 

Program dates:

October 7, 14, 21, 28 and November 4, 11

Please register at the library
beginning September 7.

Kids' Choice Reading Program for Grades 4-6

.


Kids’ Choice—Get started reading for the Waukesha County Kids' Choice Award!  The reading list is made up from books suggested by students in grades 4-6 and books are available at the Elm Grove Library or at school libraries.*  Read at least five titles from the list and you will be eligible to vote for your favorite in February.  Last year, the voting party was held at Tonawanda School with a special visit from the Milwaukee Wave! 

*(Participating schools are Tonawanda Elementary, Pilgrim Park Middle School and St. Mary’s Visitation School.)

Need something to do when there's no school?

Get ready for Game Days!

Dates: Fridays, November 5 and 12 in the afternoon*

Possible activities:  building with Legos, Wii tournament, or chess.

Save the date and watch for more details after school starts!

*November 5 is a half-day for Elmbrook Schools and November 12 is a conference day for St. Mary's Visitation School.

Special Event

Christmas Family Event - All Ages Welcome!

Thursday, December 9 at 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Join us for a cozy evening of sweet treats, Christmas crafts and a visit with Mrs. Santa Claus*.  Enjoy a delicious dessert or mug of hot chocolate while you work on Christmas crafts, then listen to Mrs. Claus tell stories about life at the North Pole.  Pick up your free tickets for this event at the Elm Grove Library beginning on November 15.

*Mrs. Claus is character actress Kathleen Mohr, last seen at the Elm Grove Library as Pirate Cap'n Pickles.

Teen Read Week

October 17-23

"Books with Beat"

Watch for a special display in the library to celebrate Teen Read Week.  The theme "Books with Beat" encourages teens to read poetry, audiobooks, books about music and more. "Teens Top Ten" books, chosen by teens around the U.S., will also be announced this week.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities (ages 13-18)

Shelf Reading for Teen

If you enjoyed shelf-reading this summer, or want to try it out for the first time, you'll have your chance in the months of September-November.

Time commitment if flexible, but a minimum of 6 weeks (one time per week) is recommended.  Training is provided before you start.

You can choose a day and time each week that works best for you (about 30 minutes to 1 hour per week).

Program Assistants

Help run special programs for kids, including:

Setting up, cleaning up and helping with crafts for December 9 Family event.

Setting up, cleaning up and helping with games on the afternoons of November 5 and 12.

Information sheets/applications will be available at the Information Desk in the library beginning September 7.
